Happy Spring!

We have much to catch up on!
My folks, Geese and Pop, were able to come see us to celebrate Easter and Cael's 7th Birthday!
We had a blast: They arrived on Good Friday and we let them rest for the evening.  On Saturday morning, we took them on a bike ride...a MARATHON bike ride (literally a 20 mile ride!)  You see, we had to ride since my mom had torn the meniscus in her knee and of course my dad with his cancer...but you would NEVER know it.  We saw ALL of DC and then some.  What troopers.  Pictured here at the Washington Harbor Fish Market and the Jefferson Memorial.

Later that day, I was contacted by a buddy offering 4 tickets to the White House Easter Egg Roll.  Naturally, we said, YES! (more on that later)  On Sunday, we had a great day of worship followed by a fabulous southern Sunday Dinner: ham, black-eyed peas, cheese grits...and coconut cake.  It was so much fun cooking with my Mom:-)  The rest of the day, we rested our bums from the previous day's exercise...it was awesome!
Monday was Cael's birthday...and of course that meant a visit to the White House.  The family vote was for my mom and I to take the kids.  I think these photos explain themselves.

Our try-out for The Avengers

Since we had been up and out the door at 0545 to be at the White House at 0630, we were home and eating a ginormous birthday breakfast at 1000.  Later we took Cael to Red Robin for his favorite burger and fries.  Since Jay had school, Cael opted to wait and cut his cake when Jay could be there the next night.  When I woke him up the next morning, I said good morning, seven year old.  He told me that he was not going to seven until he "blows the candles out"...so I guess this makes it official!

No Way!  SEVEN???!!!

On Tuesday, we took a quick hike to Great Falls National Park.   It was a beautiful day and a great way to end our visit.

Unfortunately, Geese and Pop left us on Wednesday but it was easier knowing that we will be a day closer after the move to the mid-South this summer!  Thanks for a great visit!!

Finally...our paperwork for Kai is DONE!! YES!  The final documents were sent to our agency, today.  I could bore you with the details of the last few days of the paper chase, but it will be SOOOO worth it when we get the little guy home.  Once we receive our letter of acceptance from China, we can ask for updated pictures and I can post the ones I have...he's so cute! All of this happened practically on the anniversary of Cael being home for 2 years! I can't believe how time has flown...and how much he has grown (8 inches and 18 pounds:-)

Hope to see all of you, soon!
